Queuing
A group address can be setup to overflow to a queue with configurable announcements; once an agent is available the oldest queued call will be offered to that agent.

Intercom
The ability to page an IP phone from another IP phone resulting in the target phone being automatically taken off hook on the speakerphone, the user alerted, and the media stream established.

Presence
The NEC Sphericall Desktop software will allow a user to establish a presence state of Away, Out to Lunch, In a Meeting, Busy, etc. such that other users monitoring the status of that user will be able to see the specific presence state.  The Desktop software can be integrated with the Microsoft Outlook calendar so that user’s presence status can automatically reflect “In a Meeting” and route calls according to a programmed set of rules.

Instant Messaging
The NEC Sphericall Desktop software will allow users to text chat with each other and with Windows Messenger 5.0 clients.  This option can be utilized for instance when a voice call is in progress allowing “off-line conversations” to take place without dropping out of or interrupting the voice call.

Enhanced Forwarding
New forwarding options include:

Setting up multiple forwarding profiles (a group of forwarding/coverage rules) that can be scheduled or manually activated.

Conditional forwarding upon presence state (e.g. route calls to cell phone if “Out to Lunch”)

Conditional forwarding based upon Caller ID (e.g. route calls to cell phone if “In a Meeting” and caller ID is +1 (847) 940-9000).

3-Way Desktop Video Conferencing
Multi-party video conferencing has been added to the NEC Sphericall Desktop without the need of additional hardware.  The Desktop will allow 2 additional parties to establish a real time video stream for a low cost video conferencing service.

Management and reliability enhancements include:

  • Real time diagnostics and reporting
  • PSTN Failover – If the destination party is unavailable across the network, it is possible to configure a failover path through the PSTN.
  • Address resolution has been redesigned to eliminate this process as a single point of failure.

NEC Sphere’s product vision is to continue to deliver enhanced communications services that leverage the solid, reliable and feature rich call control of our core NEC Sphericall software.  Voice, video and text messaging features and applications will continue to merge into new and powerful communications tools that leverage industry standards and commodity hardware products.

NEC Sphere will continue to support third party vendors in bringing new, low priced hardware options to the market that expand our customer’s choice of endpoints or network elements to fit their business needs.  Examples include lower density IP gateways, a wide array of new IP telephones from an increasing number of vendors, USB headsets and handsets and emerging IP appliances.
